Residence Hall

Living at Mount

We want to welcome as many people to Mount Saint Charles as possible. That’s why we now offer a residential program to enable students from far away to enjoy our high quality education program. Our residential life program is perfect for our out-of-state students, study abroad students, and military families who want to avoid having their children frequently change schools.

The boarding school program at Mount Saint Charles is the ultimate college-preparatory experience. The program gives us more time with the students outside of the traditional school day, which means that we do even more to ensure our students leave our school with strong study habits, good discipline, and happy and healthy lifestyles.

Our vibrant and dedicated staff monitors our students to ensure they aren’t procrastinating on assignments, they are breaking down and completing long-term assignments in a timely manner, and that they are maintaining a healthy sleep schedule. The goal is to instill strong work habits and discipline in them that will lay a strong foundation for success later in life.

Never Too Far From Home

Living apart from family can be difficult. With this in mind, we work really hard to make Mount a second family for each and every one of our residential life students. We do this through a wide array of activities and initiatives carefully designed to build strong community bonds amongst our residential life students. The residential life community here is very tight-knit and full of strong friendships. We play lots of games, host super bowl parties, celebrate birthdays, have weekly hall meetings, and more.

Our students are really well-looked after and cared for by our highly proactive residential life staff. We are constantly checking in on them to ensure that they are healthy, getting enough sleep, eating right, getting good exercise, maintaining proper hygiene, and doing well in school. These efforts also include providing transportation for dentist, orthodontist, and doctor appointments.

We keep parents in the loop on everything with our monthly newsletters and if there is ever an issue, we contact them right away.

The On-Campus Life of a Mountie

Students who live on campus have direct access to everything they need. We have a chapel, weight room, basketball court, tennis courts, a soccer field, a baseball field, a hockey rink, band rooms, computer labs, and more. And the best part is that our residential life students’ access to all of it stretches past the traditional school day.

Dorm Rooms

We offer double and triple dorms for our residential life students. Each dorm comes with one bed, closet, dresser, and desk per student. Our rooms also are also equipped with blazing fast internet and cable. We have a common area for students to hang out, play ping-pong, or watch TV. We also have a study hall for students which runs from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. every night.

Our residential life program includes 3 meals a day, every day of the week. During the school day, this means that residential life students’ lunch is paid for. Students are able to choose from a wide selection of healthy, freshly-cooked food in our cafeteria for each of these meals. We work to accommodate any requests for certain types of food and offer a wide range of options for students who are gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, or have allergies. We also give students access to a kitchen if they are interested in cooking food. Our school is located near several highly rated restaurants, so some of our students also order out on occasion.

Most students in our residential life program don’t have cars or are too young to drive. In order to avoid having them feel trapped at school, we organize a number of off-campus residential life retreats to help students have fun. We also provide free rides to sporting events, all school events, and work to accomodate students with additional transportation needs. Our staff helps students with rides for things like medical or dental appointments, but has strict procedures for alternative transportation from friends or ride-sharing apps in order to ensure students safety. We also offer free parking to students who can drive and have cars, but require our staff to hold onto the keys and students to check in whenever they plan on driving somewhere.

Mount is proud to welcome students from all religious backgrounds. But we also have a passion for Catholicism and work really hard to ensure our students receive a strong Catholic education. For our residential life students, this means giving them the opportunity to attend Mass every Sunday and during Holy Days of Obligation. The Masses are held at the school so students don’t need to worry about finding a ride to Church. We also offer all our students Confession during the school day once every two months, but residential life students interested in attending Confession on the weekend can request it.

Student Safety and Security

We take our students’ safety and security very seriously. Students are given a hall key and a room key and we vet everyone else who comes into the residence halls. In addition to our 24/7 support staff, we also have an officer at the school 24/7. The residential hall is equipped with state of the art fire safety systems and CO2 detectors that alert the local firefighter station right away should anything ever happen.

Prior to coming to the dorms, students are required to have all the proper vaccines and health certifications. We keep important medical equipment nearby to treat injuries and allergic reactions. In addition, we regularly conduct room inspections to ensure our students are maintaining a safe living environment and don’t have any contraband in their rooms.
