Course Description
Geography is the focus of one semester at the 7th-grade level, with an emphasis on the geographic features of Rhode Island (including Narragansett Bay, the Blackstone River, and the Pawtuxet River), Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America. There will be an emphasis on geographical terms and themes. One semester of 7th-grade Social Studies courses will concentrate on Rhode Island History. Topics include the founders and the Narragansetts, colonial Rhode Island, Rhode Island and slavery, working in Rhode Island (the Industrial Revolution), and moving to Rhode Island, studying the state’s rich past of immigrants.
