Course Description
The focus of the 6th-grade social studies class is the study of the past and its legacy. By studying the classical past, students are able to make connections to the western present. Ancient Greece and Rome are studied during the first semester, and during the second semester, students learn about ancient and modern China. At all three grade levels in the middle school, reading, researching, and writing skills within the context of history will be stressed. Participation in programs such as National History Day, the National Geographic Bee, and the wax museum will be highlights.
