Course Description
Physics Honors II (Beyond Mechanics) – This is a full year lecture and laboratory oriented course designed to supplement the topics in the Physics Honors I course with the same emphasis on deductive reasoning and algebraic skills in problem solving. This course is designed for the superior student in the physical sciences and mathematics, particularly the student who intends to pursue undergraduate study in engineering or the physical sciences. Additional topics include electricity and magnetism, waves, optics, thermal properties of matter, heat, nuclear physics, and modern physics. Pre-requisites: this course is open to students who have completed Physics or Physics Honors I and a pre-calculus class and must obtain the signatures of the current math and science teachers; and successful completion of a science fair project evidenced by a 1/4 Science Fair credit on the student’s record or completion of the required components of the Science Fair process by registration time.
