Students focus on the meaning of “justice,” delve into issues of social justice, and learn about the Church’s understanding and response to those issues through its history, principles and teachings. Concurrently, students participate in community service to the poor, disabled, elderly and children and relate their experiences to relevant issues of social justice. As they explore the causes and effects of these issues on society and individual lives, they learn to respond in moral and meaningful ways. Criteria for application and selection for this course is set by the Religion Department; application is made at the end of the sophomore or junior year for Senior CAP (one year only). Students are selected for this course by the Religion Department through the application process.
