This laboratory oriented course aims to provide students with the conceptual framework, factual knowledge, and analytical skills necessary to deal with the rapidly changing science of biology. Through lecture, discussion, labs, independent and cooperative group work, the focus is on fundamental concepts that underlie cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and human genetics. Two mandatory dissections will conclude our study of biology. This course is designed for students who are academically motivated and interested in pursuing higher level sciences. A three-ring binder is suggested.
Pre-requisites: Biology honors students are required to participate in the MSC Science Fair and complete a science research paper. Students must have an 88 average in junior high science and math, as well as departmental approval.
