Art Teaches Skills for the Future
The Visual Arts program emphasizes artistic thinking and the development of creative ideas, capacities to develop for all, not just the "talented" few. Our course offerings allow students to find ways of self-expression through Drawing, Painting, Two and Three Dimensional Design, Computer Design, and Architecture. Students have the opportunity to promote the visual arts in the community through participation in community outreach programs at local elementary schools and nursing homes. The Visual Arts Department also participates in numerous outside art exhibitions and contests such as the RI Scholastic Art Program, National Duck Stamp contest, and the Congressional Arts Caucus' Annual High School Arts Competition. Professional artist are incited to the school to work with students on special projects and to present their work.
