Service Opportunity Depot

The Service Opportunity Depot provides ways to help students fulfill their service hours required by the Academy.
It is not a club, but an activity which offers various types of community service that students can do individually or with their friends. Students can sign up for events through Ms. Vassallo, Moderator of the Service Opportunity Depot.

Service opportunities are offered at differents days and times - including Saturday and Sundays! Students can choose which community service project fits their schedule and then sign up for it. They can also choose to be very involved with SOD opportunities or only chose to do one event a year.

Within the first 2 or 3 weeks of the quarter, if a student is seeking service opportunities with SOD, they can find out what service events are being offered and can sign up for the one they desire. Many events have a limited amount of students that can attend (and fill up quickly), so signing up as soon as possible is the best way to ensure that a MSC student can get into a particular event. At each event, Ms. Ferrer or another supervising adult is present and in charge of the students involved.

SOD events gives students the opportunity to practice what they have been taught through the school and the Brothers' mission. It also gives them the chance to make spiritual connections and develop compassionate relationships in environments that they might not otherwise have the chance to experience.
