Health & Wellness

The health and wellbeing of all Mount Saint Charles Academy students is paramount, and our Health and Wellness Department focuses on ensuring students grow in every aspect of their being – physically, emotionally, socially, spiritually, academically, and environmentally. We aid our students in acquiring and maintaining the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a personal active process toward a healthy mind, body, and spirit. All students participate in our wellness program, unless a doctor files a written, valid explanation with the director of guidance or assistant principal. Rhode Island law requires students take at least one wellness course per school year.

Program Highlights

  • World-class programs focused on figure skating and hockey at an elite level, with top-notch coaches and program directors, individualized nutrition and training plans
  • Courses provide plenty of student choice, allowing students to participate in large team sports, small group activities, or individual activities such as climbing Mount’s rock wall
  • All students graduate with CPR and first-aid certifications

Testimonial

We instill the importance of social, emotional, and physical health in our classes every day: this affects every aspect of students’ lives. Mental health, body positivity and self confidence are taught through our courses, and students learn about cooperation and teamwork when working toward common goals in gym activities. – Tammy Chauvette, Health and Wellness Department chairwoman
